I found and am using a .wav sound file called "You have new mail".  It is a female voice that alerts me that there is new mail waiting.  Much of the success of any business depends prompt reading and responding to emails.  You should set your email tools to alert you as often as you wish; mine checks for new mail every 9 minutes.  People LOVE prompt replies!

Turn up your speakers and test the sound here: You Have New Mail

I am curently providing this sound file, Mail04-female.wav, as an attachment to all current newsletters to the Judgment Professionals on our mailing list.  Once you have it you should return here and follow the directions below for installing it on your system.

On a Windows PC system you can download and save it in your /Windows/media directory or in your /Windows/system32 directory.  Once you have it you will need to tell your computer where it is so that it will play whenever you have new mail.   Easy.  Just follow each of these steps in order:
  •   Go to your control panel and click on Sounds and Audio Devices
  •   Now click on Sounds
  •   You are in Program Events now with Windows at the top of the list.
  •   Scroll down until you find and Click on "New Mail Notification"
  •   Lastly, just use the BROWSE button there and browse to the directory where you placed the file you downloaded before titled "Mail04-female.wav"

Finished.  Adjust the volume to suit your preferences and set the frequency of checking for your new mail by clicking on Tools from within Outlook Express and then click on Options.  It's all there.

Other email systems should be very similar.
